I used to work for Bass Pro Shops in Dania a few years ago. I wasn’t really thrilled about the job because I had to deal with dumb ass people who wanted shoes. Yes I was a footwear salesman. There was one perk that came along with working there that made the whole thing worth it. The employee discount at Islandmorada  Fish Company!!!

Now I have eaten at Islandmorada quite a few times and every time I go, I try to get something different. They have a pretty standard menu for a seafood restaurant, including salads, burgers, and fish sandwiches. My favorite standard menu item is the Grouper Ruben. It is kind of like a regular Ruben, except that the corned beef is replaced by fried grouper and the sauerkraut is replaced with slaw. It is pretty good, so I have made it my go to menu item when I can’t figure out what I want. But there is something else that keeps me going back time and time again.

THEY HAVE A SUSHI BAR!!!!!!

While working there I discovered that 30min was not enough time to get food from the restaurant portion of Islandmorada . So one day I ventured into the Sushi Bar portion and sat down. There was a Japanese guy behind the counter that was really awesome. I mean the guy could pump out Maki rolls like no one’s business. The quality if the fish also exceeded my expectations. I thought it would be ok at best because of it being a chain, but I was so wrong. Their Nigiri was always my repeat performer. I am a huge fan of raw tuna, so I usually ate that. Being that I am still very new to Sushi I haven’t ventured to far away from my Spicy Tuna rolls or my Tuna Nigiri, but I plan on getting a little more exotic very soon.

Please tell me about your favorite Sushi Bar and where it is located. I would also love suggestions of some different kinds of Sushi to try. Tell me what your favorite kind is as well!!
