These are a few pictures from July 4, 2009.  We always start our day by going to the Plantation, Fl parade.  After that we usually go to 7-11 and get slurpees because it’s just so darn hot out in the Florida sun during the summer.  Then we have a BBQ and finish our day with some good old fashion firework watching!

Summer fun!!  Of course my children, like many others, like to spend most of the hot summer in the pool.  We also like to go to the park and have picnics and play on the playgrounds.  Here are a few of my favorite pictures from Summer 2009.  I will be adding more in another post!

I try to stay away from the beach because I’m not particularly fond of the sandy mess.  I must say though, the beach is a great place to get some amazing pictures of my family as well as nature.  Here are a few pictures from one of our adventures to the beach in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

We love to visit St. Augustine, FL because it is a beautiful city and there is so much to do and see.  Jeremiah and I spent our Anniversary in St. Augustine this past April and loved every minute of it.  To see everything you really need more than a day though.  We managed to see the wax museum, The Fountain of Youth, take a tour of the main part of the city, and go on a ghost tour.  I will be doing another post so I can share more pictures.  We want to go back and spend at least 2 days so we can see the fort and everything else we missed.

My family and I LOVE going to Miami Metro Zoo.  If they would let me, I would spend all day watching the tigers and taking pictures of them.  Since there is so much to see and do at the zoo, they won’t let me stay more than a few minutes.  In this post, I am sharing some of my favorite animal pictures from one of our trips down to Miami.

LaSpada’s Original Hoagies(Davie, Florida)

letstalkfood:

LaSpada’s is definitely one of the better sub shops in South Florida. From the wise guys throwing meat around like an escort hired for a bachelor party, to the moment you leave the door, you will truly have a one of a kind experience.

They start off by slicing the meat in front of you. All the meat is always fresh, and the roast beef is good and rare. From the slicer, your meat gets hurled through the air into the hands of the person who will build the monstrosity in front of your eyes. They spread on the mayo, mustard, and whatever other condiment you desire, then proceed to pile on the freshest veggies you’ve ever had on a sub. After they finish with the veggies and your sub weighs almost 10 pounds, another slab of meat gets tossed over to be put on top of your veggies.

Eating one of these monsters is a challenge, but I always manage to muscle one down. My only problem is that I just wish their bread was a little tastier. I haven’t been back in a while because a new Sub Shop has the dedication of my stomach. Don’t worry though, I will reveal the name of this new Sub Shop in a later entry.

Now I want to know of the best Sub you have every had and where it was that you had this experience. Feel free to tell me in the comments section.

Goofles Ice & Custard(Plantation, Florida)

letstalkfood:

My family and I went to Goofles Italian Ice and Frozen Custard on a whim. Someone was passing out coupons for a free Goofle at my son’s school, so we thought we would give it a whirl. Ever since my first Goofle I have been hooked.

A Goofle, or Goofle-Ati is layers of Frozen Custard and Soft Style Italian Ice. My first one was Orange Creamsicle and Vanilla Frozen Custard. I have also tried Peanut Butter Italian Ice and Vanilla Custard, but the repeat performance goes to the Root Beer Italian Ice and Vanilla Custard hands down. It’s like having a Root Beer Float without all that frothyness.

The owners name is Steve and I think he is one of the nicest people around. Never rude or short with you, even though I think he is there for like 23 hours a day. Everything is made by him on site. If you are looking for a delicious treat that will help cool you off on a hot day then head on down to Goofles Italian Ice and Frozen Custard and ask Steve for a Goofle-Ati. It won’t be your last, I promise you that!!

Is there someplace that you just can’t stop going to for a tasty treat? If so please feel free to tell me about it. Maybe I will go there one day during my travels.

Primanti Bros.(Sunrise, Florida)

letstalkfood:

Just the other night I had a craving for a good sandwich, and being that my usual fix (a whole Publix Ultimate Sub) was out of the question due to the time of night it was, I decided to go to the new Primanti Bros. that opened up just down the street. I heard from other people that this place was like no other when it came to a good sandwich. So my wife and I got in the truck and headed down the road. When I got there, we were seated almost immediately after walking in the door and were told that there were plenty of TV’s we could enjoy the sporting events on for the evening. There had to be at least 8 to 10 flat screens within eye-shot.

After looking at the Menu we decided to have an Artichoke and Spinach Dip appetizer and ordered cokes to drink. I looked over the menu a little longer and decided I was going to have a sandwich called the Pitts-Burger. After an okay Artichoke and Spinach dip, I was having my doubts about the quality of my sandwich. But I was in for a big surprise. When I got this sandwich I wondered to myself how I was going to get the thing in my mouth, let alone eat it. It is a 1/3 pound burger patty, topped with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, coleslaw, and french fries, that’s right I said french fries!!! I also added a fried egg to mine because I wanted the runny yolk to kind of tie everything together. They serve all that delicious flavor in between 1/2 inch thick slices of fresh Italian bread. I have never had a sandwich so delicious in all my life.

It says on the Menu that it is the #2 best seller, when I asked what #1 was, I was told it was the pizza. All I can say is, I can’t wait to go back and try the pizza next time.

Please write me and let me know of a place that has an awesome sandwich like the Pitts-Burger. I am always looking for a new sandwich eating experience!!
